The medical cannabis that would be given as a prescription may consist of CBD and low amount of THC compounds. The words CBD oil and Cannabis oil are often used interchangeably and however, both can be prescribed by the doctors in the U.K.
Cannabidiol (CBD) is a naturally occurring chemical compound found in cannabis or marijuana plant. This substance can be easily extracted and blended with any carrier oil to formulate CBD oil. It acts opposite to THC as it is completely non-psychoactive in nature. It is highly known to offer multiple medicinal and healthcare benefits.
CBD has the ability to treat various health and mental conditions including severe pain and epilepsy. It tends to possess anti-anxiety, antioxidants and antiemetic properties.
Before getting CBD oil for any medical purposes should firstly apply for a license. The temporary approval panel will look at the merits of the condition before offering the license to use CBD oil. Those doctors who are agreeable to prescribe CBD oil would demonstrate of having no other lawful medication to treat the condition of the patient. Moreover, the doctor would be further responsible for bearing the responsibility for liability and risks.
As CBD is associated as a powerful medication, it is completely legal to use. There are many stores who have started selling CBD infused products that are completely THC free. Those with THC content come along with certain rules and regulation, hence it is illegal to use in the UK.
Any product with a maximum of 0.2% of THC content can be legally used in the UK and those selling products with a higher THC content would be illegal.
Carrying CBD oil along abroad completely depends on where you will be exactly traveling. Those taking CBD oil to the USA must ensure the product has maximum 0.3% THC content.
Cannabis is considered to be a class ‘B’ drug and therefore, the possession of cannabis can be considered illegal and may lead to a fine and imprisonment for at least five years.
